Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi

The Ogun State Police Command has disclosed that it may arraign the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri, over allegation of violent conduct during the All Progressives the registration and revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday said the Deputy Speaker would be arraigned in court except the complainants opted for out-of-court settlement.

Kadiri was accused of leading suspected hoodlums to invade the residence of the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, in Oru Ijebu, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

The Deputy Speaker was also alleged to have led thugs to invade the residence of a former legislator, Adebiyi Odugbesan.

He was detained for about two days at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Kadiri was said to have accused the SSG and Adegbesan of hoarding the registration materials for the ongoing APC registration.

The police had invited all warring factions from the local government but detained the deputy speaker after hearing from all parties concerned.

It was gathered that the deputy speaker, who was held for about 48 hours, was later released on self-recognition.

The state police spokesman said, “Preliminary investigation so far revealed that the deputy speaker is culpable of all the allegations (against him).

“It is likely (we arraign him in court) except if those who brought those allegations against him opt to settle out of court. If not, he would be arraigned in court.”
